In case you haven’t heard by now, Vice President Kamala Harris is bringing in the big bucks for her Democratic presidential campaign — she’s raised more than $200 million in the first week since she announced her presidential aspirations. It also shouldn’t shock you that Biglaw associates and partners are heavily backing the lawyer in this race. In fact, a large group of Biglaw attorneys have reinvigorated a support committee for Harris that was first started when she ran for president during the 2020 race. The National Law Journal has additional details on this inspiring group that was recently relaunched via email:

The email said the group is designed to raise funds for the campaign and to address legal issues that are “certain to arise in the course of the next 100 days, including election integrity.”

The email was sent to more than 200 lawyers, including those at DLA Piper; Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison; Latham & Watkins; Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; Ropes & Gray; White & Case; Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe; Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr; Cooley; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius; Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan; Davis Polk & Wardwell; Sullivan & Cromwell; Cravath, Swaine & Moore; and Sidley Austin, among other firms.

Though the group is largely comprised of private practitioners at the moment, more and more lawyers from across the profession are expected to join the cause in the coming days. “Please cascade this invitation to other lawyers in your firms and in your communities,” the email states, “so we can amplify the message and provide the requisite funding and other support required to wage a successful campaign.”

The lawyers running this committee will be joining forces with some big names, noting that they “expect to have multiple convenings over the coming weeks/months” with those ranging from campaign strategists to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff (formerly of DLA Piper), and even with the Vice President herself.

Congratulations to all of the lawyers who are making this committee run. Kamala Harris will need a lot of support to win the presidency, and it’s heartening to know that Biglaw — and really, a healthy chunk of the legal profession as a whole — has her back.
