Can you provide some more detail on the problems you solve and the benefits you provide?

We like to call Clio “legal software your entire team will agree on” because our solutions benefit everyone—from junior associates and senior partners to office managers and IT directors. Key problems we address, especially in mid-to-large sized firms, include poor visibility into firm operations, a lack of functional workflows, and work being done in silos.

We enhance firm workflows by automating and improving processes relating to case management, document management, billing, and payments. Clio also helps law firms reduce silos and foster collaboration by providing a centralized platform for communication, document sharing, and task management, ensuring seamless teamwork and information flow across the firm.

What do you think the legal tech industry is doing well? And what might it be missing?

Clio pioneered cloud-based practice management software and we continue to lead the way through growth and innovation. We certainly have more competition than we did 16 years ago, but that only reinforces the value cloud-based solutions bring to the legal industry. Over the last couple of years, the market has seen some consolidation through acquisitions and increased private equity investment, including our own recent Series F announcement—all great signs of a thriving, maturing industry.

The biggest opportunity for the legal tech industry right now is with AI. As the AI market matures, its practical applications across industries, including legal, are becoming clear. Legal tech providers have the chance to deliver AI-based solutions that can cause a seismic shift in this industry, moving lawyers up the value chain and significantly increasing access to justice. But it’s incumbent on us to introduce these solutions in a way that is sustainable for long-term success; half-baked, flash-in-the-pan solutions won’t cut it. The legal industry requires AI-based solutions that are robust, scalable, and secure.

What’s one thing lawyers can do to be more tech savvy?

According to our most recent Legal Trends Report, about 20% of legal professionals currently use AI in some form in their practices. Given the widespread adoption and interest in AI, lawyers who haven’t yet explored this technology need to consider how they can embrace the opportunities AI provides. The focus should be on staying informed about technological advancements and the evolving landscape of legal services, and understanding the practical applications of AI. The 80% of legal professionals who aren’t using AI need to think seriously about getting on board, or they risk falling behind their peers—and their competition.

While embracing AI, lawyers must not lose sight of their professional obligations. Several jurisdictions have already issued AI ethics opinions, providing valuable guidance on the ethical use of AI within the legal industry. Familiarity with these guidelines is essential to understanding AI’s limitations and ensuring its responsible implementation.

By recognizing and leveraging the tremendous opportunity AI represents, lawyers can pave the way for future success, embracing innovation while upholding professional standards and optimizing their business operations.

What can ILTACON attendees expect when they stop by your booth?

Attendees can expect to have insightful conversations with Team Clio on common workflow challenges, time-efficiency gains, and the benefits of the cloud. All of our industry-leading solutions are available for demonstration, including an exclusive sneak peek of Clio Duo, our AI-powered partner, which we’ll be releasing this fall. We’ll also have some great raffles and giveaways, including a pair of Apple AirPods Max, and Apple AirTag or Tile Trackers for the first 100 demos. Book a demo now to ensure you’re one of the first 100

We’ll also direct you to our AI photobooth if you’re interested in leveling up your current headshot.

Is there anything else you’d like ILTACON attendees to know about you?

Believe it or not, Clio hasn’t been to ILTACON since 2019. Since then, we’ve been diligently evolving our products and services to exceed the expectations of our mid-sized and large firm customers. Now, well over 1,000 mid-sized and large firms around the globe use Clio, and we believe it’s the right time for us to return.

If you’re frustrated by outdated software or server-based tools that create more problems than they solve, transitioning to cloud technology is essential for remaining competitive. Clio offers unparalleled security and superior data protection, including PCI, GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2 compliance, ensuring your firm’s data is safeguarded by the highest industry standards.

If you haven’t seen us since 2019, stop by the Clio booth! A lot has changed in the last 5 years, and Team Clio can’t wait to show you all the strides we’ve made.

Will you be seeing the sights in Nashville this year?

Having hosted the Clio Cloud Conference in Nashville for the past two years (at the same venue as ILTACON), we’re no strangers to Music City. Whether you’re a country music fan or not, the Bluebird Cafe is a must-visit. This iconic and intimate venue has hosted some incredible songwriters over the years, from Carole King and Garth Brooks to Faith Hill and Taylor Swift. The sense of history in this small, unassuming venue is unparalleled. I’m also a huge fan of Robert’s Western World—a classic western bar, right downtown on Lower Broadway. If you’re looking for more recommendations Team Clio has you covered with a guide to all the must-see Nashville locations

Outside of that, you can catch Team Clio at the famous iManage afterparty, which we’re thrilled to be sponsoring. Stop by the Clio booth for more information.
