Lawyer Disciplined For Bad Language Mouths Off Even Harder

Angry emoji curse emoticon. Swear word reaction bad emoji face icon. This discovery may surprise you, but lawyers occasionally use profanity. A 2017 survey by Legal Cheek found that 42% of lawyers regularly curse on the job. And while many things can change in seven years, lawyers using profanities is a longstanding tradition with a bright future ahead of it. That fact won’t stop lawyers from getting in trouble for cursing though. When the New South Wales Law Society brought a case against George Sideris for professional misconduct, in part due to his foul language, he decided to respond by doubling down. RollOnFriday has coverage:

An Australian lawyer facing striking-off proceedings for using “inappropriate language”, has responded by telling the Law Society to “F*ck off”.

In one email, Sideris wrote: “F*CK off the lot of you, you bunch of idiots” and then, “let me be a little nicer – F*CK OFF”. Others simply stated “better yet” or “so simply put” above an attachment of a middle finger picture, according to a report in Lawyers Weekly. In other correspondence, he threatened to take things to the “nth degree”.

The Law Society didn’t take his insults too kindly, but the varied comments on the website’s comment section suggests that some lawyers out there think they had it coming. I’m not sure if Mr. Sideris had a soundtrack to his email rant, but I’m willing to bet this was playing somewhere nearby:
