In-House Leaders Say Lawyers At These Biglaw Firms Are Client Service ‘All-Stars’ (2024)

gavel trophy law rankingWhich Biglaw attorneys are most beloved by general counsel for their superior client service? Thanks to a brand new ranking, we’re about to find out.

The BTI Consulting Group set out to find which lawyers handled in-house client service with ease, adding them to their annual list of “all-stars.” To compile the ranking, between April 2023 and March 2024, BTI spoke with more than 300 in-house decision-makers at large organizations with over $700 million in annual revenue.

Law360 has some coverage on BTI’s annual ranking, with additional details here:

BTI’s president, Michael Rynowecer, told Law360 Pulse that many clients expressed a preference for attorneys who think creatively, who anticipate their needs and who are good listeners.

“These all stars have clearly thought about their clients and tried to think about the questions that they’re going to ask,” Rynowecer said. “The clients tell us that they’ll ask a question about a new topic or something they might not have discussed before, and it seems like the all stars are just ready to talk about it.”

Almost 300 attorneys were named to this year’s list, but which firms do they hail from? According to Law360 and our own research, these are the firms where at least five lawyers were named by in-house clients:

  • Jones Day: 7
  • Littler: 7
  • Ogletree Deakins: 7
  • BakerHostetler: 6
  • DLA Piper: 6
  • Gibson Dunn: 6
  • King & Spalding: 6
  • McGuireWoods: 6
  • Morgan Lewis: 6
  • Carlton Fields: 5
  • Faegre Drinker: 5
  • Greenberg Traurig: 5
  • Latham: 5

With 296 lawyers named to the all-star list, just two were mentioned by more than one client. Which lawyers received the highest honors? As noted by Law360, those lawyers are: Jennifer Battle of Carpenter Lipps and Andrew Wronski of Foley & Lardner.

Congratulations to Jones Day, Littler, and Ogletree for leading the pack on being client service all-stars, and an even bigger congratulations to the attorneys who were named by more than one client. You’ve proven yourselves to be outstanding when it comes to making corporate clients happy, and that’s worth celebrating.
