Joseph J. McCarthyJoseph J. McCarthy has been appointed provost and senior vice chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh. He served as interim provost and William Kepler Whiteford Professor in the Swanson School of Engineering. McCarthy holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Northwestern University.
