Leading Law Firms To Combine, Creating Regional Powerhouse

Dollar handshakeThe great growth race is on, and law firms just can’t seem to fight the urge to merge. The latest law firms to tie the knot are northeast regional firms Harris Beach and Murtha Cullina.

Earlier this week, the firms voted in favor of a combination, set to go into effect on January 1, 2025. As noted by Bloomberg Law, the new 250-lawyer firm will be called Harris Beach Murtha, with 16 offices spread across the northeast, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, DC, and Massachusetts.

Andy Corea, Murthy Cullina’s managing partner, offered a statement on the proposed merger:

“Our respective firms are eager to collaborate on a wide variety of matters across industries, and this demonstrated enthusiasm is just a glimpse of what is to come for Harris Beach Murtha: the highest quality legal services, supported by a bigger talent pool, expanded breadth of services, and broader geographic scope to meet our clients’ ever-evolving needs.”

Chris Jagel, CEO of Harris Beach, had this to say about the firms’ union:

“This Harris Beach Murtha combination is an exciting, transformational move and proof of our investment in our clients. Both firms have a long history of excellence and client-driven growth in our respective markets and are well-aligned culturally and with many of the same practice areas. The combination will enable us to extend our reach to provide even more diverse and innovative services and capabilities over a larger geographic footprint.”

Congratulations to Harris Beach and Murthy Cullina on what promises to be a successful alliance.
