Plaintiffs Fighting Golden Gate Closure Given Chance To Continue Fighting

Golden Gate LogoGolden Gate University School of Law’s decision to close its doors has seen some serious pushback from a group of students and alumni fighting to pry them back open. Plaintiffs are trying to force the school’s doors back open through the courts.

While they didn’t get the ruling they wanted, there is still some fight left in the cause. From Reuters:

California’s Golden Gate University School of Law will not be forced to reopen this fall—at least not yet.

A state judge in San Francisco on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit brought by Golden Gate students and alumni seeking to stop its impending closure and denied their request for an injunction that would keep the school open for the fast approaching fall semester.

Setbacks are better than being SOL. The judge is allowing the complaint alleging that the school violated its obligations to its students to be amended — the changes may end up on their favor, but we have to wait and see how it plays out.  They intend to file the amended complaint this week and aren’t giving up on the possibility of an injunction.

Fighting to keep the school open, despite the school’s wishes, is a great display of school spirit. Best of luck to the students and alumni!
